Old time wooden flower sifter. It is just under 8” in diameter and 4” deep. The screen is metal.
My mother (Born 1914) was a home economics teacher and always sifted her flour. She believed it was important to the quality of her cooking to use exactly the right amount of flour. I have always thought that was needlessly precise and my foods seem to come out OK without sifting.
I think in the old days weevils we common and a screen like this was used to remove bugs and other “stuff” from the flour.
There are no marks or stamps that would indicate where this was made.
